Motivate
Promoting citizens’ active involvement in the development of Sustainable Travel Plans in Med Cities with Seasonal Demand
MOTIVATE project was financed under the “Urban Transports” thematic of the Interreg MED Program, and contributes to the uptake of low-carbon transport in five MED cities – Ioannina, Rhodes, Larnaca, Almada and Siena – by actively engaging travellers in the development and implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) through the use of social media and crowdsourcing techniques.
The project intended to help decision makers to gain a strong understanding of the main mobility problems that residents and tourists face. Based on that, sustainable interventions were proposed and accepted, using cost effective ways of data collection and analysis. This helped the development, update and monitoring of much more targeted and efficient SUMP.
The project started on the 01st November 2016 and ended in November 2019. It was implemented with the contribution of 8 partners (pilot cities, public transport operator, scientific and technical experts) from 4 EU countries- Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Portugal, while 2 more partners from Greece will act as associate partner
